Choice of spring material
Manufacturer of heavy vehicle components
The customer has an oil tempered spring that was zinc plated. The springs often broke due to hydrogen embrittlement.
Lesjöfors suggested a change of spring material to EN 10270-3-1.4568 (or SS 2388 which was the old Swedish standard).
The customer was able to omit plane grinding, which saved about 3 million crowns/year.
