MSc student thesis assesses impact of climate reduction plan

Two students are mapping Lesjӧfors’s climate reduction journey as part of their thesis.

Linus Rodin and Topias Karlsson are studying a MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm – one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities – and their thesis will lead to more detailed development of Lesjofor’s future climate reduction plans.

Scope 1-3 analytical progression

Anna Haesert, Head of Sustainability says: “This is a truly exciting project and Lesjӧfors are very fortunate to be the focus of the thesis. With the support of the findings, we will be able to develop a more detailed and structured climate reduction plan. The analysis of the status reports from all our sites on Scope 1, 2, and 3 progressions will help map the Lesjӧfors Group’s path going forward.”

Thesis scope

Preliminary research questions for the project include the identification and mapping of Lesjӧfors’ greenhouse gas inventory, resulting in:

  • Localization of GHG hotspots
  • Specification of greenhouse gas calculation components

The resulting final presentation will help deliver the Group’s action plan for climate-related activities, which will include identification of opportunities and obstacles for further progress towards GHG reduction targets.
