We are climbing in sustainability ranking

Our group’s high ambitions within sustainability show result. We are advancing in a Sustainable Index among leading companies in Sweden and prepare for a climb in the CDP ranking after committing to the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi).

Sustainability index advancement

Recognized as an upcoming sustainability leader among the top companies in Sweden, we are happy to announce that Beijer Alma, the industrial group where Lesjöfors is the largest company, is climbing from the 20th position to number 15 in this year’s Hållbara bolag (Sustainable Companies) index. The index is conducted by Lund University and Dagens Industri group, Sweden´s leading provider of business news.

Anna Haesert, Head of Sustainability comments on the new ranking: “We have accelerated our sustainability work and focus on sustainability as adding value for our stakeholders both as an opportunity for future growth and for building resilience on our impact on the environment and upcoming regulatory frameworks. We address and commit strongly to climate action, circular solutions, innovation with sustainability in mind and compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks such as CSRD. This ranking reflects that we are moving in the right direction on our journey.”

Next step in CDP within reach

Another important sustainability ranking comes from the CDP* reporting. Lesjöfors is reporting on CDP since 2014 and the report is conducted by our parent company, Beijer Alma. It is a comprehensive disclosure of our climate actions the year before where we specify the emissions of each subsidiary and demonstrate progress towards our goals. Annually, CDP raises the bar for each level.

“For the past few years, we have consistently scored at level C, which is a good level, but for the 2023 reporting we see opportunities to take the next step since we have committed to the SBTi goals. We anticipate this to be a facilitator to reach the next level”, says Anna Haesert.

* The Carbon Disclosure Project is a global non-profit organization that works with companies and cities to disclose their environmental impacts, particularly related to carbon emissions and climate change. CDP collects and manages data on behalf of investors, purchasers, and policymakers, encouraging transparency and accountability in addressing environmental risks and opportunities.
